There are many attitudes towards decision-making; the selection of a specific approach depends on the abilities of the manager, the nature of the problem and the time available to the manager. The article and its conclusions suggest that the utilization of economic and mathematical methods in entrepreneurial practice is entirely justified and it makes it possible to accelerate, refine and improve the decision-making processes of managers and executives of companies. Article suggests the possibility of using structural analysis and structural models as an important tool of effective management of metallurgical production, since no detailed knowledge of the linkages between the elements of each process and system, without taking into account the possible scenarios, both operational and strategic (e.g., scenario-based simulation development costs the operational decisions about the possible substitution of input materials) can not effectively manage the business and therefore take decisions that will ensure growth or at least sufficient profit and cash flow for the company to operate - steel producers. The Department of Economics and the management on the Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering of the V\u0160B Technical University of Ostrava, within their research activities are currently devoted to projects with the implementation of the structural analysis and structural models as an important tool of an effective proceeding on metallurgical productions.
