"Casting and solidification of steel ingots is associated with many known problems, such as central shrinkage, porosity, macrosegregation and residual stress which can lead to cracks and cracks during the further treatment. Particularly, methods of numerical modelling using professional simulation software are effective tool for verifying the conditions of casting and crystallization of steel. Within the project named the Regional Materials Science and Technology Centre, the technical background of the Department of Metallurgy and Department of Physical Chemistry and Theory of Technological Processes was extended by the workplace %22Laboratory for Modelling of Processes in the Liquid and Solid Phases\u201D. Laboratory equipment includes two simulation programs ProCAST and QuikCAST. The first program is based on finite element method and the second program on finite differences. These numerical softwares were used for the simulation of casting and solidification of 1.9-tons steel ingot."@en . .
