"The Department of Thermal Engineering has constructed a physical model of the secondary cooling zone of CCM to simulate the real operating conditions of this machine. Using this fully automated model one can determine the dependence of the local values of the heat-transfer coefficient which is in accordance with its corresponding real value. In this paper the design of the temperature control algorithm essential for acquiring the correct values of the heat-transfer coefficient is presented. The principle of the measurement method is based on the specification of the power requirement to keep the hot probe surface temperature on its desired value. The digital controller, used to control the probe surface temperature is the discrete approximation of the suitable designed continuous PID controller and whole algorithm is running on the standard PC. To obtain the accurate results the correct measure method of the process values as well as high level of the control precision should be ensured."@en . .
