"This article deals with comparison and appreciation of corrosion resistance of three types of steels (CSN 12050, 14340, 15330) after plasma nitridation and oxidation. All steels were before the plasma nitridation and oxinitridation (PLASOX) heat-treated. Selected samples were exposed in salt spray according to CSN ISO 9227 standard for time of 240 hours. The samples were during the test visually evaluated photographed. The best resistance steels 14 340 (35CrAl6-9) which is caused by content of aluminium in the matrix. The hardness and thickness of tested layers was also measured, which is connected to the corrosion resistance. For comparison the samples were also exposed under sulfur dioxide test with general condensation of moisture (CSN ISO 6988), the test simulated industry atmosphere. After one cycle (8 ours exposition, 16 ours in laboratory atmosphere) was formed significant stain on all the tested samples. The results are documented in tables and photos.
