A typical example of such is application of the transformation induced plasticity effect. The fundamental underlying phenomenon is a stabilisation of a substantial amount of retained austenite during heat treatment performed down to low temperatures and its subsequent transformation to strain-induced martensite by plastic deformation. Unfortunately strain induced martensite transformation description by direct microstructure analysis is very difficult.
