The rising carbidic phase acts as stress raisers and is the sources of microcracks evoking the embrittlement. This phase, which is specific with their high hardness and brittleness, can appear in the form of thin layers at grain boundaries too and cause the embrittlement along grain boundaries. This paper deals with the influence of thermocycling in the protective atmosphere and high-temperature annealing in vacuum on the decrease of carbon content in tungsten single- and polycrystals." .
