Dependence of a surface condition in the primary zone on casting speed was determined from results of a former research, which verified, that the shell growth rate in the mould could be expressed by a power function with an exponent 0.831. Heat flux at the border strand - mould rises with an increase of casting speed by a power function with an exponent 0.169. It follows from numerical solution, that metallurgical length dependence on casting speed, ranging from 0.5 to 1 m.min-1, can be described by a square function with a linear term 1.9 to 4.3 times more significant than the square term.
