"In the contribution are described the results of measuring and evaluation of resistance to localized corrosion on selected magnesium alloys, especially AZ91 type after casting and forming (rods). Using a potentiokinetic cyclic polarization method, there were measured the values of corrosion, depassivation and repassivation potentials in chloride and sulphate containing solutions. Alloy constituents, i. e. pure Mg, Al and Zn were also tested under identical conditions and parameters for comparison purposes. Metallographic study was aimed at the extent and geometric characteristics of pitting corrosion in relation to a material structure and solution composition.
