"The times of increasing costs of primary resources call for measures when wastes are regarded as prospective raw materials. This monograph focuses on an application of ash originating from the combustion of plant biomass, the production of which, with regard to the world-wide trends in energy recovery from renewable resources, is increasing significantly, as an alkalizer in acid mine drainage treatment in relation to brown coal mining. Samples of biomass ash from diverse sources were tested in the experiments aiming to determine the ash’s capacity to alkalize acid mine drainage, to identify the properties of the arising sludge and the potential mobility of the hazardous elements from the biomass ash into mine water. The results reveal that the alkalization of the acid mine water was very effective making use of the biomass ash samples and the mobility of hazardous elements from the ash was negligible. The results of the research make part of the documentation, based on which a patent has been applied for and registered with the Industrial Property Office of the CR, No. 303567, filed as ’A combined effect agent and waste water treatment using this agent’. The chapter dealing with the issue of mine water is comprehensive and can be used as a teaching text at Czech universities."@en . . "Biomas Ash in AMD Treatmnt" . "79"^^ . "27350" . "1"^^ . . . .
