"In the EARN project (European Automation Resource Network, supported by the EU LifeLong Learning Programme) we want to find a way to improve cooperation between Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) and industry across Europe. The project is focused on the innovation chain (from HEI to industry) and dissemination of information about the services offered. A further goal is to involve students in research and transfer their thoughts and ideas into practical implementations. The approaches of HEI and companies are different – companies expect fast solution of their problems and projects while universities are focused on long-term and complex research activity. Project EARN wants to create a link between these two worlds by building a platform for sharing universities’ resources (such as equipment, services, laboratories...). This platform offers the possibility to optimize the links between research, education and application practice. Due to the professional background of the participants of the project - JAMK University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences (Austria), University of Applied Sciences Esslingen (Germany) and VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava (The Czech Republic) - the pilot project is focused on the area of automation. In the future, we expect to connect other participants and extended focus into other areas." . . "Robert, Amann" .
