"This paper describes some new perspectives on automation technology of brown coal mines. It is focused on the mining technology usual in Czech Republic, which is characterized by technology chain using large scale excavators followed by either continuous transport by belt conveyors or transport by train and processing the preparation plant or storing on ore dump. In the first section we examine the possibility of using acoustic signals based on the last conference published findings. Then we deal with the issue of transfer points control on remote belt transport. The paper is complemented by some ideas of application of augmented reality, which can be used as visualization tool where the better understanding of the device functionality is provided by 3D model. However, the augmented reality can be used directly to manage all processes more efficiently. Experiments described at the end of the paper demonstrate the practical implementation of modern trends of automation in the process of coal mining. These experiments related to coal transportation via train with the support of RFID technology. RFID technology was in particular to determine the current position of the train for operational traffic management." . . .
