"In operation of DC electric railways, imperfect electrical insulation between rail and ground gives rise to ground current fields. These artificial fields in DC railways surroundings can cause electro-chemical corrosion of iron or ferroconcrete objects, for example pipelines, foundations etc. This can cause operation malfunction or in case of breakdown of oil/gas pipelines even serious ecological damage. Article is dealing with determining of ground current fields in DC railways surroundings. For solving this specific problem, SW Matlab Simulink was used. Several subsystems with mutual connections were created in this program.
