"This paper deals with laboratory testing of shear properties of asphalt belts at different temperatures in temperature controlled room. Test results, resp. functions derived there from, are then used to contribute to developing of new computational methods for assessment of structures with applied sliding joint using mathematical modeling. Sliding joints are used to reduce the friction in footing bottom where horizontal deformation of subsoil or foundation structure is expected, e.g. concrete floors or pre-stressed foundations. Application of sliding joints is an effective method for reducing this friction and thus helps to reduce the financial costs of the building. Sliding joints are usually formed lying freely in the buffer concrete layer or molten. The accuracy of the sliding joints design depends primarily on knowledge of the mechanical response of the material exposed to long-term shear load. At faculty of civil Engineering unique measurement equipment was designed and temperature controlled room build up so that the rheological properties of wide spectrum of new materials could be measured.
