"Marten\u00B4s critical attitudes were formed at the time when he was in friendly terms with F. X. \u0160alda, namely 1902-1906. The development of both of them was parallel; they were influenced by similar historical and cultural background. As a form for expression they choose critical essay, which allowed them to present their expert attitudes and also their own opinion. Despite the age difference they found a way how to understand each other and they were interested in the same themes. They often came up to very similar conclusions. Both of them inclined to synthesize the components of art. \u0160alda\u00B4s synthesis method resulted in artistic theory, but Marten synthesizing effort after 1906 led to a shift to the spiritual integrity. In this tendency to emphasize psychic experiences and the sense of creator decorativism he opened new approaches to art theory. It took several years before he finally profiled as a critic."@en .
