"A new pulse capillary discharge driver CAPEX-U (CAPillary EXperiment Upgrade) with a laser-triggered main spark gap has been designed and built. Our motivation for building such new apparatus was not only lasing at 46.9 nm (Ne-like argon), but also testing of feasibility of amplification at shorter wavelengths (below 20 nm). The assembled device consists of a Marx generator, of a coaxial pulse forming line, gas-filled laser-triggered spark gap and a ceramic capillary. This paper presents the description of the apparatus CAPEX-U, the results of the spectroscopic measurements of the soft X-ray capillary discharge emission in Ne-like argon and H-like nitrogen in the axial direction of alumina capillary."@en .
