Ballistic additives comprise crosslinked nanoporous polymers selected from the group consisting of styrene, di (meth) acrylates and divinylbenzene containing sulphonic, carboxylic or phosphonic anionic functional groups. Nanoporous polymer is saturated with metal cations from the group consisting of iron, lead, copper, manganese, titanium, molybdenum, tungsten, zirconium, hafnium and chromium. The pore size of nanoporous polymer ranges from 1 to 100 nm.
