Thermal barrier can be principally improved in two ways ? increase of thickness of insulation layers or use of material with lower equivalent conductivity. Using our mathematical model we are able to study heat transfer in polymer foams and determine not only optimal porosity but also optimal cell size, their shape and content of polymer in struts.
