"In this work we present a spatially two-dimen-sional non-equilibrium mathematical model describing electroosmotic flow (EOF) through an array of parallel charged submicron channels. This system is governed by the hydrodynamic, electrostatic, and mass transport phenomena subjected to complex geometrical boundary conditions represented by the solid-liquid interface. The developed model is based on the coupled mass balances, Poisson, Navier-Stokes, and Nernst-Planck equations. EOF is described by non-slip boundary condition. The effect of DC electric field (steady-state) is studied by means of direct numerical modeling. Due to the symmetry only the half of one channel with its walls and adjacent electrolyte is modeled. The results of practical numerical modeling (spatially 2D, multiphysics, mixed systems of equations, stiff problems) of such system are presented and discussed."@en .
