"Development of Method of Carotenoid Dyes Isolation from Rhodotorula Yeasts"@en . "Carotenoids are the most widespread naturally occurring pigments. They are widely distributed in plants and microorganisms. These pigments are used in pharmaceutical, chemical or food industries. Microbial carotenoid pigments are difficult to extract because of their embedding into a compact cell matrix and prominent sensitivity to degradation. The aim of the work is the finding of the most appropriate method of carotenoid pigment isolation from Rhodotorula glutinis and Rhodotorula mucilaginosa yeasts. During our experiments seven methods of cell disruption and carotenoid pigments isolation were tested. Only chemical cell disruption methods were tested due to high acquisition costs of disintegrators (e.g.: X-press , French-press etc.). The most appropriate method was chosen according to results obtained by spectrophotometry (at 455nm).
