The contents of beta-glucans were determined separately in pilei and stems by Megazyme (Ireland) enzymatic kit contained exo-1,3--glucanase and -glucosidase. Soluble and insoluble glucans were isolated according to the modified procedure of Chenghua et al. (2000). Lyophilised samples obtained from dialysed extracts, as well as insoluble residues, were analyzed by spectroscopic and separation methods.
