"The following study describes analyses of biofiltration data using rather simple kinetic models originally described by Ottengraf. The experimental data were obtained in the laboratories of ICT Prague, on the biofiltration system where styrene served as a sole carbon source for the resident microflora. The division of the bed into four separate sections allowed us to measure the concentration profile in five points along the bed height. The system was operated at steady state and activated carbon served as a filling material. The collected data was than investigated using previously mentioned Ottengraf's models.According to experimental conditions the data were categorized into three sets. The criterion was the flow rate of air and the inlet concentration of styrene, which were changing, while the flow of styrene per time unit was almost constant. In all three sets of data the first order kinetic model gave a reasonable fit, showing the best accuracy for the first and second data sets. In case of" . "2"^^ . "3"^^ .
