During production of these plastics acrylonitrile residues can last in copolymer and then can migrate from packaging into food during storage. Acrylonitrile is carcinogenic compound, it is necessary to monitor its content. Former legislation in Czech republic (Directive Nr. 49/1978, regulation 73/1990) controlled acrylonitrile content in polymer mass (maximal allowed limit 5 mg/kg).
