"Plastic packaging produced from polyethylenterephthalate (PET) are commonly used for packaging of carbonated and non-carbonated soft drinks, mineral waters, beer, wine, edible oils etc. PET bottles are manufactured by the injection of stretch blow moulding; creation of secondary products during this process in consequence of degradation can be encountered # mainly acetaldehyde and also isophthalic acid, terephthalic acid, diethylene glycol etc. Created acetaldehyde is presented in polymer, from which is progressively released and after filling of bottles migrates to its content. Found acetaldehyde amounts are in the range from units to hundreds micrograms per litre of bottle content. Acetaldehyde has fruit-pungent aroma and it is a component of fragrances. Because of this during filling the bottles with the other content than water we cannot be sure that presented acetaldehyde is from PET bottle or from bottle content.
