"Environment in water tanks with high level of humidity and almost constant temperature represent ideal conditions for algae growing, or mildew on walls and ceilings of spaces. Removal or overlap of such pollution is very cost intensive and short-term solution. Photoactive coatings containing phthalocyanine offer alternative solution of this issue. Phthalocyanine molecules after irradiation with light in the visible spectrum generate active forms of oxygen, which create unfavourable environment for biological growth on walls. This article presents results from long-term experimental testing of several coatings containing phthalocyanine in different locations. Results of performed tests show significant suppression of biomass growth on the treated walls of monitored facilities. Conclusions of performed tests show usability of coatings containing phthalocyanines for treatment of water management facilities.
