"During thermal desorption of solid materials contaminated with persistent organic pollutants (POPs), the contaminants are transported into the gas phase and then separated and re-immobilized in subsequent technological system. The paper presents the results of laboratory research aimed on the separation of POPs from the gas in order to simplification and optimization of the existing method or searching for alternative one. In the initial stage of thermal desorption development, the authors focused on the fundamental processes occuring at the contaminants separation, especially condensation. Presented results showed significant influence of condensation temperature and nitrogen flow rate on the condensation efficiency. The condensation was observed to be very low efficient for HCH as compared to HCB and PCBs."@en .
