"Altogether with joining to the European Union, the Czech Republic undertook EU legislation, what was a requirement for the integration. That legislative packet involved stringent conditions concerning leaking of wastewaters containing nutrients into surface water. Above mentioned shift brought demand on building-up new waste water treatment plants and on reconstruction of origin ones, which were not well equipped for controlled nitrogen and phosphorus removal. Emergency conditions of many sewage works has been considered as an additional reason for the reconstruction. Mathematical modeling of treatment processes can be used as a tool for designing and validating technology used at the reconstructed WWTP. The mathematical models could be also used for observing system changes along with dynamic shifts, for modeling of critical situations, for modeling of technological changes or for employee education and training. This article shows using of a simple mathematical model in a preparation phase of WWTP Ho\u0159ovice reconstruction project. The goal wasn't to built a complex model with dynamic simulation, but to carry out technology calculation and to verify it with a simple model.
