Afterwards it is necessary to remove more sludge from the biological reactor and provide a treatment and disposal of the excess sludge. One of the treatment possibilities is stabilization by anaerobic digestion. The aim of this paper is to compare the effect of anaerobic digestion of activated sludge from conventional activated sludge process and activated sludge from two types of membrane reactors with different sludge age. First results indicate that despite the presumption of higher stabilization degree of sludge from membrane reactors, the anaerobic biodegradability of this sludge is not necessarily lower in comparison to sludge from conventional WWTP."@en . . . .
