"Life cycle assessment (LCA) methods can be a useful tool to assess the total environmental impact of the remediation project as well as evaluating if remediation is the best environmental option. This study considered remediation of of DNAPL-contamined site located in town \u010Cesk\u00E9 Bud\u011Bjovice in the Czech Republic. Primary and secondary environmental impacts associated with ex situ soil venting were assessed using a retrospective LCA. 735 t of soil was polluted with chlorated ethylens resulted from degreasing of products in machine-work As the main contaminant was determined toxic tetrachloroethylene. The remediation project consisted basically of excavating the soil heaping into piles and treating it using an ex situ venting. All material and energy inputs, processess and subsequent outputs of emissions, wastes and contaminants on locality were evaluated using GaBi software and databasis.
