This work deals with a study of influence of external mass transfer on the reaction of Kola apatite with orthophosphoric acid. Experimental data were obtained in the batch isothermal stirred reactor for the initial phase of the decomposition with different fraction of Kola apatite particles. For determination of external mass transfer coefficient were used relations published in literature. Purpose of external mass transfer evaluation was to obtain its influence and dependencies of mass transfer coefficient on temperature, orthophosphoric acid concentration, rotation speed and size of apatite particles. Importance of external mass transfer was judged in terms of ratio value of orthophosphoric acid concentration on the surface of Kola apatite particle to concentration of orthophosphoric acid in the bulk solution.
