"The exhibition was focused on the work of Marie Galimberti-Prov\u00E1zkov\u00E1, or \u201CMadame Gali\u201C, as some of her close friends and contemporaries nicknamed her, an artist who for some decades found herself on the margins of interest of Czech fine-art history. In a similar way to the majority of her contemporaries from the ranks of female artists, Galimberti-Prov\u00E1zkov\u00E1 was stigmatised by her sex, which has hitherto justified her frequently remarkable artistic achievements being overlooked. As an artist who for many years abandoned her homeland and who in the world drew on stimuli considerably different from what were considered as valuable and modern on the Czech art scene (her unconventional, moderate Expressionism which she had developed from as early as the second decade of the 20th century, was ten years later considered as obsolete on the Czech art scene). Moreover, she remained a foreigner among her contemporaries, even after her return after the First World War. It was this multiple marginalisation which has caused Galimberti-Prov\u00E1zkov\u00E1\u2019s work hitherto not to have featured in any compendium devoted to Czech art of the first half of the 20th century.
