"The three-stage sequential extraction procedure for speciation of potentially toxic trace elements As, Cd, Cr, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn has been applied to establish their distribution in urban dust from two Prague tunnels - road Letna with automobile traffic and subway, station Museum. Higher total concentrations of most analytes were found in the subway dust sample, except for lead, which was higher in tunnel dust Letna, mostly bound to the organic matter. Results indicate that sources of both dust samples are different and in subway the contribution of indoor own source to the pollution should be considered. Analytes like As and Cr have been found mostly present in residual immobile fraction in both samples. On the other hand high total concentrations of elements like Cd (9,6 mg/kg), Zn (1724 mg/kg) and Mn (1415 mg/kg) found in subway dust and their occurrence extensively in mobile fractions (more than 50%), which are potentially bio-available, represent certain health risk." .
