The running project “Consultation in Fish & Poultry production” is realized in the province Bié that was hardly affected by civil war which ended in 2002. Activities of the fish part of the project are: ichthyological survey, selection of suitable local fish species for aquaculture and proposal of the integrated fish & poultry production management. Capacity building in the field of fish and poultry production is an important part of the project. As a result of our activities we chose Tilapia rendalli that was stocked into constructed small ponds in integrated fish & poultry farm in the village Nequilo. One of the most important factors of the freshwater aquaculture implementation, its sustainability and reproducibility is the acceptance of the system by the local people. Therefore the system must reflect local approaches and habits."@en . . .
