"Perceiving and assessing landscape aesthetics has become an active area of interest in recent years. This paper begins with a brief survey of the historical development of landscape aesthetics perception in the Czech lands. Then two basic approaches in the field of landscape aesthetics are analysed. The objective approach considers aesthetic values to be an inherent quality of landscape, while a subjective approach regards the aesthetic qualities of a landscape as a product of the human mind. Two ways of assessing landscape aesthetics are used in the context of these approaches. Expert-based assessment is based on certain assumptions about aesthetic value, while perception-based assessment focuses on the individuality of the perceiving subject with his/her feelings, needs and imagination. This paper deals with the advantages and disadvantages of these two ways of making assessments."@en . "Kalivoda, Ond\u0159ej" . . "2"^^ . . . "3" .
