"The cathepsin L (CTSL) affects the proteolytic system of meat in pig. Moreover, this gene belongs to candidate genes for the economically important traits in pigs. The objective of this study was to test the influence of the AJ315771:g.143C>T in the CTSL gene on qualitative and quantitative traits in pigs. Association analysis, which tested the effect of the CTSL gene in 514 crossbred combination, was created in this project. These pigs are commonly used on commercial farms in the Czech Republic. We did not detected statistically significant differences on qualitative traits. On the oposite, we found the trend of allele T on increased fatness and the effect of allele C on higher lean meat."@en .
