"Experiment was conducted in two years (2008–2009) in Leškovice on potato cv. “Finka and Katka” at 0.45x0.80 m spacing. In the experiment 2 types of mulch were used: mulch textile and grass mulch. The use of grass mulch decreased the attack of potato haulm by Phytophtora infestans by 8.2 % in comparison with control variant (without mulch) and mulching textile decreased the attack of tubers by late blight by 2.6 % (compared to control variant). Grass mulch influenced the number and size of tubers, when grass mulch increased the number and the weight of tubers over 56 mm and on the other hand decreased the weight of tubers under 40 mm in comparison with control variant. Yield of ware potatoes was higher at the plots with mulches on average of 2008-2009 (compared to non-mulched control variant the yield was higher by 6.0 t.ha-1 in grass mulch and higher by 5.7 t.ha-1 in mulch textile)."@en .
