"This paper reports on the results of experiment investigating the influence of cadmium (10-6 M) on the enzyme glutamate kinase and chlorophyll content in spring barley (cv. Kompakt) leaves. Glutamate kinase starting the biosynthesis of proline from glutamate and its activity is controlled of feedback inhibition by proline. Proline plays an important role in plants during abiotic and biotic stresses. Plants were grown in a nutritive solution in climabox during 4 weeks. The glutamate kinase activity was determined spectrophotometrically by a modification of the hydroxamate method. The results showed that cadmium increased the activity of glutamate kinase but chlorophyll content was decreased."@en . "133;136" .
