Leaf blades mostly had the maximal amount of the dry matter at the beginning of the flowering period, with the subsequent decrease in the phase of the ripening period. Stems usually reached the maximal weight of the dry matter a little bit later, during the milk ripeness phase. When the dry matter content stagnated or began to decrease in vegetative organs, i.e. in the period of ripening between phases of the milk and full ripeness, the generative organs - the spikes - showed an intensive increase of the dry matter. The dynamics of this process was higher in new, modern high-yielding varieties of the spring barley than in the historical variety N\u00FCrnberg of 1832.
