This development was carried out within the Project on research organisation development K201 at the University of defence, Department of weapons and ammunition, during 2012. After the selection of suitable materials the bismuth projectiles of calibre 9 mm Luger were developed and produced and cartridges with these projectiles were assembled. The ammunition was subjected to both technical and ballistic tests that allowed to assess and compare the functional properties and ballistic characteristics. Two pieces of newly developed cartridges are presented here as the functional models. Furthermore, the measurement of the fluoropolymer pyrolysis toxicity during the shot is presented in this report.
