"In the Potato Research Institute potato growing has been verified in various systems of soil tillage in recent years. It was particularly no autumn ploughing and spring shallow soil tillage into the depth of 180 mm. The results showed that tuber yield tendentiously reached decreased level, however statistically significant, compared to conventional technology. On contrary, reduced values of mechanical tuber damage were found after harvest. In the topsoil layer reduced values of volume weight of soil and increased porosity were measured and this indicates suitable soil characteristics associated with soil compaction. Although potatoes as a tuber crop are not a typical crop included into systems using minimization procedures for soil tillage, they can be grown in these systems under condition of a good initial state of soil physical characteristics."@en .
