These reports were summarized by several comprehensive reviews, which concluded that microorganisms are common inhabitants of deep subsurface layers and may take place in many important geological processes. Despite numerous reports of occurrence of deep subsurface microflora little is known about source of this microflora pattern of its occurrence and role in subsurface ecosystem. Their potential role in geological processes is highly discussed topic.
