This situation is given by some specifics in fish breeding which did not allow distinguishing progeny of concrete parental pairs. Development of molecular genetic methods and especially microsatellite markers techniques enabled to construct the pedigrees in some types of experiment and to evaluate much precisely genetic variance of quantitative traits. Trials conducted in common carp showed that microsatellite markers can be effectively used for parentage assignment even in populations established from high number of breeders. Heritability estimates showed that mass selection on growth could bring profitable selection gain and thanks to available parental origin of progeny it could be proved that appeared mouth deformities were not caused by genetic reason.
