"This work was aimed to evaluate the contamination level of total mercury and methylmercury in fish tissues and sediments from Skalka reservoir. Thirty individuals of these species were sampled: roach (Rutilus rutilus), bream (Abramis brama), silver bream (Blicca bjoerkna), big head carp (Aristichthys nobilis), asp (Aspius aspius), eel (Anguilla anguilla) and wels (Silurus glanis). Muscle, liver and gonads were used for analysis. Total mercury content in fish muscle exceeded valid statutory limits of the Czech Ministry of Health in all samples. Average content of total mercury in asp muscle (member of predatory fish) was 3,12 mg/kg and in bream muscle (member of herbivorous fish) was 0,96 mg/kg. Average content of methylmercury in asp muscle was 3,41 mg/kg and in bream muscle was 1,08 mg/kg. Total mercury and methylmercury content were higher in muscle and liver in comparison to gonads.
