"The focus is on developing values and attitudes by means of active research and authentic thinking as a subject in a problem-solving model of teaching and learning. It is argued that the student should acquire a sense of ownership over the problem-solving activity. For this reason, four conditions are stipulated: (1) drawing on own experience, (2) avoiding making premature conclusions based solely on pre-task knowledge and experience, (3) learning to cope with moments of uncertainty, and finally, (4) forming related values and attitudes in interaction with others.
