"The contribution summarizes the results of research focused on some personality traits of people engaged in activities based on volunteerism. The study investigated anxiety in relation to other potential motivations in people interested in volunteerism.The principal question was if anxiety could be a possible motivation for volunteering. The research was oriented on volunteering in the program 5P, which is a Czech version of the American program Big Brothers Big Sisters. Within this program, a young adult person, mainly a university student, cooperates with a child with some adaptation problems. The cooperation is based on regular contacts and is regulated by precise rules delimited in an agreement. The study uses predominantly qualitative approach. Fifty volunteers participated in the research.
