"Molecular markers in general can be used as modern and progressive tool in breeding of new varieties. In comparison with morphological characteristics/traits, molecular markers have many advantages and relatively high number of different molecular techniques and approaches are available for plant genotyping purposes. Rapeseed hybrid breeding programmes are more successful in comparison with other plants, because of utilization of effective and economic pollination control system for the production of F1 hybrid seeds. Czech breeders currently utilize SI doublehaploid lines with stable recessive S alleles in programmes of oil seed rape hybrid breeding. We developed molecular selectable marker based on analysis of S-locus class I SLG gene for early detection of SI/SC plants.
