"Environmental protection is often considered when suitable materials for an industrial usage are selected. The selection of insulating fluids at energetics is no exception. A suitable substitution of petroleum based (mineral) oils is being searched both in a group of synthetic fluids and vegetable oils. The petroleum based oils are well known to be very flammable and not very biodegradable. On the other hand, their electric properties are excellent, which has been verified along many years of their application. Hence the main objective of the paper is to compare electrical properties (dissipation factor, capacity, volume resistance), physical and chemical properties (viscosity, acid number) and infrared spectra of two mineral oils (a Technol Y 3000 and a Shell Diala DX) and selected samples of vegetable oils (a commercially available ENVIROTEMP? FR3TM vegetable-based transformer oil, a sunflower oil, a rape seed oil). The properties of the sunflower and the rape seed oils were also measured after an"@en . . . . "978-4-88686-070-5" .
