"This paper deals with control methods, which can be used for controlling the movement of individual mobile units in a specific (exactly defined) environment. In this case the mobile units are small locomotives, which can move on a railway track layout. The control of locomotive movement can be divided in to two parts. The first part is the control of the railway track – setting the track switches, the signals and recognizing which ones of track sections are occupied by trains. The second part covers the control of locomotive speed and direction. The first control part is covered by the distributed control subsystem based on the CAN Bus, and the second part is realized by using the standard DCC. The train traffic can be also automated in different modes. This is done by the upper automation control layer, which communicates with both lower control parts via the TCP/IP interface." .
