"2"^^ . "There are widespread applications of thin films in the field of cutting tools. It is their use which currently expands machinability limits into previously hard-to-machine materials. One of such examples is cutting of glass fibre reinforced plastics. This is the focus of the present paper, which gives a summary of achieved results. It comprises literature search data, experimental results and practical experience. As shown further, resistance to such diverse loads may be obtained only in such tools, in which such problems had been treated in a complex manner. This is the reason for extensive experiments covering not only thin films and substrates but also tool manufacture and application. Wear on the tool has been examined by scanning electron microscope and by extensive laboratory tests. Relationships between the results suggest the solution for the use of thin films for cutting tools for said composite hard-to-machine materials."@en . "Metal 2007" . .
