"Application of nanoclays in polymer matrix is generally studied with the intention to improve mechanical properties, thermal and chemical stability and flame resistance of nanocomposites. Vermiculite was mechanically grind (by means of jet and/or balls mill) and chemically (hexadecyltrimethylamonium bromide) treated and influence on exfoliation in polyethylene matrix was observed. Several ways of nanovermiculite dispergation in polymer matrix, including electrospinning, is described too. The characterization of vermiculite nanofiller and nanocomposites were made based on the results of X-ray powder diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, light optical microscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis, measurement of flammability, melt strength and creep test.
