Naked POFs wrapped with florescent fabric were measured to investigate the enhancement of side illumination of POFs for the application in safety active visible textiles. The results show that the fluorescent fabric, thick fiber diameter and small bending radius can enhance the side illumination of POFs. When the bending radius is smaller than the technical bending limit, the enhancement of side illumination with above three factors is increased.
